Anthony lives in Lusaka, Zambia. He was orphaned when he was 7 years old and forced to live on the streets, sleeping in a drainage ditch, covering himself with plastics to stay warm at night and begging for food during the day. He would go days without eating. He did not have the luxury of going to school. Survival was a full-time job.
Life changed when he met Kathy Headlee, the founder of Mothers Without Borders. The two became friends. Anthony's desire was to have the opportunity to be a child again. Kathy's desire was to get Anthony to a safe place where he would not have to worry about scavenging for food or fearing for his life. Over a period of time, Anthony learned to trust Kathy and agreed to be placed in a boarding school where he would have a chance at a quality education and a new life.
Anthony is now 19. In April, he graduated top of his class from Mansa High School in Zambia where ee scored the highest in the country on a standardized math test and 2nd highest in the country in science. This outstanding achievement won him an invitation to meet the President of Zambia. He is a superstar with a bright future ahead of him due to his determination to succeed and assistance from Mothers Without Borders. His dream is to begin college in the fall in either the US or the UK where he can pursue his dream of becoming a doctor. Your purchase will help Anthony and others like him not only to survive but to thrive. Our philosophy is that everything you do matters and that change is possible one child at a time.
